Bye-Bye Beaner

Most of you who know me, know that we've had a Beagle/Basset Hound cross dog for nearly 2 years now. We got him at a garage sale during the summer of 2006. He's adorable and despite the fact that we never got him formal training....he's a very, very good dog. He's completely housebroken, only does his thing in the box we built for him outside (so no messes to step in on the yard barefoot in the summer), and he's great with kids and other animals. So, what's the problem? Well....I think we (and by we, I mean Trev & I) have realized that we're a little too spontaneous and self-absorbed for a dog. We hate the kenneling when we travel. We hate having to ask neighbours to let him out if we're gone for most of the day. And we hate having to have him on a leash in town when all he wants is to run.

So? We found him a new home. It's in the country. With room to run. He's got 4 cats (I'm sure they think that they've now got a dog but we all know that Dogs Rule). I think he'll be very happy. The transition here wasn't as bad as we thought it would be either because the kids have a standing invite to come visit whenever they want (he went to live with a friend of Mica's actually). I'm going to miss the scrapping opportunities (see Clear Scraps album above) and how cozy he was when he snuggled in for afternoon naps downstairs.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...... (that's me - a big sigh). And please slap me if I pick up another puppy and think that maybe this time it'll work.

so glad Bean has such a great new home - even more glad that you're glad, and that the kids are okay with it too. guess you'll just have to give me all your dog bone albums to scrap ;-)

As cute as Bean was, he will love the open space to go where he chooses whenever. He was a good dog. Glad it worked out well for both of you. Anytime you need to spontaneously come and visit..... :)
